Brian Bøgelund Pedersen is the founder and editor-in-chief of AI Girlfriend Review. He has personally tested more than 200 AI companion apps, services and websites, as well as hundreds of other AI products. Not every app he tests gets a review: smaller apps that are not worth a dedicated page are tested but left out.
Every review on the site is done on a premium, paid plan. A review often takes about a month of paid use, because that is how long it takes to see how much you can actually do within the plan and where its limits are. Each app is then scored in the same seven categories: text, picture, voice, video, customisation, performance and value for money, so scores can be compared across reviews.
How Brian tests AI girlfriend apps
Text chat is tested with the same set of scripted prompts for every app, covering an introduction, a curiosity question, an emotional question, a reflective question and a planning scenario, and the replies are also analysed with Amazon Comprehend. Performance includes Google PageSpeed results, and value compares what the features cost against the free plan and the rest of the market. The full scoring method is on the AI girlfriend review list.
